42 here. My 89 is my first Corvette but not last. The price was right for me and I have always liked the C4 body style. If I had a boatload of $mackers would probably get a C5 and a ZR1 but I am very happy with what I have. I couldn't ask for a better driver.

I am 31 here. I had a 77 C3 when I was 20. Now I have the 84 C4. I bought a C4 because I like the style and it was all I could afford after I got ripped off of 4600 bucks by a Vette broker. I am now spoiled by my 84's razor sharp handling.

Labodny, Enjoy the Vette. When those daughters get to be teens you may go totally looney. Not to mention weddings when they are older.

56 yrs on this earth, just bought my 90 this past June. House finally paid for. Kids out of the house. My turn. :D

Well, dunno what your definition of young is, but @ 32 in march I'd say I'm in the younger crowd. I bought my 89 primarliy to autocross with. I bought this one because I knew which class I wanted to autocross in & I don't have a fortune tied up (yet) in the car. I can certainly afford newer if I want, as I have a new $40,000 truck on order. I could have easily picked an 03 z06 from a friend for 35k. But my current life/work would find this car sitting in the garage more than driving it. Besides it seems when I do drive the 89 on the street it takes possesion of my right foot and I keep finding the throttle on the floor with copius amounts of tire being left on the road. "Officer, she made me do it"

I'm 47. I considered both C4 and C5 when Vette shopping. I just like the look and feel of the C4 better -- high door sills, squeeze-in cockpit, clamshell hood, looks good coming and going. With the LT4 you give up nothing to the LS1 in the convertible C5. The LT4 convertible also is quite a bit less common than C5 convertibles.

On the C5 I do like the analog gauges and much stiffer chassis. The LS1 is also a fabulous engine. After all that I still chose the C4, and couldn't be happier.

25 here. Getting the car wasn't a problem but keeping it running has my bank account running low pretty much all the time. There have been times when it's sat there because driving the Toyota was cheaper. I probably won't be driving the Vette' until May or June because I want to save up some money.

55 years young.

I'm on my 5th Corvette, my 1st was a 1965 coupe back in '68, I was 18 then, with quite a few girl friends :L

40, I can afford a new Vette but I chose to purchase the car of my dreams instead. Heck, now I have enough left over to purchase my wife a 82 when we add a new garage to our property.

33 here and It was time for me to get the car I always wanted. When I started looking it did not matter to me what model. It came down to the car I got was the best bang for my buck(42,000 miles was too hard to pass up)

Turned 50 last week, I had a '64 when i was 19 but family obigations kicked in shortly thereafter, now the kids are gone. I bought mine because #1 it was all I could afford on a teachers salary, but I wouldn't trade it for a C5! #2 I really like the "package" better than the C3's and the looks better than the C5's.

I'm 54 and I own 2 C4's. A '93 Ruby and an '85, just purchased in summer '04. If you want to do a tally, I was 49 when I bought my 'first', couldn't afford any before then, had to put 2 kids thru college. I won't be any richer, but I still dream of owning more Vettes.:)

Bought my first, a 92 convertible, I was 29

Bought my second, a 95 coupe, I'm 37

Born in 1935, I'll be 19 in March. I am a first time buyer. I considered a C5 for about 2 seconds. I wanted something that was different from anything else on the road. I can't identify a C5 from a distance. There is absolutely nothing else on the road that looks like a C4 'cept another C4. A friend in San Bernardino owned one and always showed me 100 on the speedometer whenever I visited him. I loved it and was hooked. When I started looking for one almost 4 years ago, I found a 96 Torch Red LT4 with 16K on the odometer, always sheltered, and absolutely cherry. I had to have it. I kinda hated that because I knew that regardless of what he asked for it I was still going to buy it. When it was over, I didn't bleed too bad. The wife's first view of it was when I pulled into the driveway. She thought I was going to bring home just a used Vette. I've never seen her eyes so big. Four years later I have doubled the mileage but it still looks like it just rolled off the show room floor. And it still smells new. I only have one regret - that I did hold out for a Torch Red LT4 Convertible. They are gorgeous!!!!! C4s forever!

I'm 55 and bought my '86 about a year and a half ago. I can afford a new one but I like the body style of the C4. I have wanted a Vette since I first saw a '64 from a school bus before I had a license. Now the kids are all on their own, well sorta, so I figured it was time. I asked my wife one day when we were out crusing if she was OK riding in it knowing that it is not exactly her style. She said most definitely because she liked what it does for me. What a kick!

55 when I bought the coupe, 57 when I bought the convertible. Looks like next year is my year to buy another.......................:D

Seems the very opposite of what my friend thinks!

Seems I am actually in the minority being 29. Most of y'all are very (young) being the average age of 45. It's definately a corvette thing. regardless of age I think it is the car. My first love is the stingray from back in the 70's. someday I will have one! But the C4's have that look. A true corvette look. I know I definately get a heck of alot more looks in the vette compared to when i had my old jeep!

Thanks for all the posts.

I am making my friend look at the posts. I even email them to him at work. ha ha ha

Nearly 41 and finally got my own. I thought long and hard for oh, about 10 seconds when choosing platforms. I chose my particular C4 because I love the 95-96 bumpers and wide mouldings (best looking Vette built IMHO), but like the "Atari" style dash over the 90-later models. My '87 fits the bill perfectly in both respects. I briefly considered a C5, but to tell you the truth, you see one, you've seen 'em all. That, and the rear bumper still looks like an afterthought, while the C4's lines flow smoothly from front to back. Did I tell you C4's are my favorite? :D

Tell your buddy that most younger people still prefer rice grinders over Vettes due to price consideration.

The big 40 but I feel like I'm 21. "LSA", the Vette and the gym keep me young. :)
