I recently had the annual state vehicle inspection performed and per usual the car passed with flying colors. Even with all the Lingenfelter mods there's been no issues. This is primarily due to the outstanding dyno tuning done by a local Corvette specialist. Even with the engine mods the emmisions tests pass and because there are no codes the electronic inspection system is fully satisfied.

I was wondering if any of you with engine mods have had problems with your annual inspections....particularly you guys in California.

Annual inspection? Just sounds like a way for the state to get (more) of your money.

I've never had an inspection sticker since 2004 and no one other than Junkie has ever noticed .I haven't registered the 08 except for when I bought it .Now this only pertains to my Corvette ,not all the vehicles .

The fact is I'm old and senile and I've saved enough money to pay a fine four times .

Well, that is, of course, your affair. But you might want to keep in mind: if you end up in an accident (even one that isn't your fault) with a vehicle, and the registration and/or inspection isn't up-to-date/valid, you've opened a gaping legal door for someone (the other involved party, your insurance company, etc.) to open up a big can of financial whoop-a$$ on you... And that's after the fines from the citation you may be issued...

'Cause even if your vehicle is in pristine condition, if the state you've registered it in requires an annual inspection, and it's not current, guess what: you just had an accident in an illegal -- and from a purely legalistic standpoint, un-roadworthy -- vehicle. And if you think some enterprising attorney (perhaps representing your insurance company) won't take advantage of that loophole in our litigious society, think again; that's a slam-dunk for him...

I chafe at these fees too. Especially when I was living in Kansas and had to pay personal property taxes every time I renewed the registration on my vehicles (and what a crock that is!). But try to think of the fees as cheap legal insurance. 'Cause I might be the best driver in the world, but I gotta share the road with everybody else... And I've got absolutely no control at all over what they do behind the wheel...

Just sayin'...

Moving to Montana

When I registered the RV in Montana the Deputy walked around the beast, checked the VIN against the title and said, "Looks like a RV to me.":eyerole

Paid a one time tax of a couple hundred bucks and got forever plates with NO need for another inspection EVER!:upthumbs

Steve, when are you going to be back in Mississippi. Looks like I am stuck in LA, the state not the city:ugh, for the foreseeable future. It'll be fun to see how much trouble you, the JunkMan and me can get into.:_rock

Oh yeah, almost forgot with the Montana registration full coverage is only costing $428/yr with GEICO.:D

I can't tell ya how bad I want to go on a road trip .I was going to propose to Junkie that we try to pile up a bunch of cash and cruse for a couple weeks .Sorry but it won't happen till after the first of the year .

The second issue is that we have to give Jane Ann time to save up some bail money.;)

Granted, the Texas motor vehicle annual inspection is little more than the automotive equivalent of fogging a mirror. But it does serve the useful purpose of moving ~$15 from my wallet to the state's coffers... ;)

Getting Back On Track

Geez guys...the question I was asking had to do with anyone who has serious engine mods and if that has led to problems during their annual inspection. I think we're all on the same page regarding the revenue aspects of vehicle inspections.:)

That's because you take it to the Ford dealer for the inspection and they don't know what to do. ;LOL

Flame suit on and yes, the local Ford dealership owners are friends of both our families.
