What head gaskets are you other 383 drivers using?

Frankie used gaskets from GMPP on my lump and now it looks like I might have a leak! (still waiting on the test kit to come in the mail)

If Thunder does have a bad head gasket I am thinking that I should go with the Fel Pro 1010. Any pros or cons?

I really do not know where or when the coolant is going so this post is just kind of p!$$ing in the wind oh well it is raining cats and dogs here so thinking about the Vette is as good as it gets.:eyerole

I always use felpro, don't know about your gasket for a 383.I use AFR heads 220

with a special nitrous gasket and ringed block.

I do believe my builder used FelPro's too, Spanish. ;shrug

Don't ask me about the thickness - I haven't a clue. :L

Hard to beat copper. Depending on the valve clearance you can get them in 'bout any thickness you need. I've used SCE in the two I've built, Milodon also makes 'em in 'bout any size you need.

The problem was the intake gasket. Thanks to the recommendations made on another thread here at CAC I bought an exhaust gas detector which eliminated the possibility of the head or head gasket being bad. (best $22.95 I have spent in a long time) I stuck the sucker back on with just the right amount of the Right Stuff and Thunder was all better in less than a day of knuckle busting.:upthumbs

Probably should ask vettefan about headgaskets :L It isn't really that funny though. I am not sure what gaskets they used on his car.

No it is not funny at all, if you want to know I can look at the receipts, I am not sure off the top of my head.
