Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic is my absolute favorite color!! I had an 05 DSOM 6-spd convertible for 5 years. Traded it in for a 2011 Callaway Grand Sport convertible. Missed the DSOM so much, I bought another one just like it...and still have the Callaway.

You will love the color and the compliments they always generate! By the way, did they tell you to always have the car in reverse when shutting off? That's a quirk for only the 05 6-speeds but very important that you do that. Otherwise, the battery is sure to die.

It's because the computer is waiting to see the transmission in reverse before it goes into "sleep mode" which conserves battery power. Obviously the engineers knew they could "see" reverse because the back up lights would need to come on, so they used that signal and the key in the "off" position to be the logic for "sleep".

I sell Corvettes and think your trade-in price for the 01 is right on. Remember everyone...it's a trade-in price, not a retail price. Big difference!

As far as the 05 goes, if that is the car you want, then just trade in the 01 and be done with it. Someone mentioned a paddle shifter for the 05. That wasn't available until 2006. I have had two 05 Daytona Sunset Orange Metallic 6-spd convertibles and have zero problems with either one. I love that color!

I don't know about Arizona, but in some states you only pay sales tax on the difference between the new car and the one you traded in, which can certainly make a difference.

Just for a bit of info, I recently traded a car in on a used 2012 Lexus & had to pay FULL sales tax on the 2012 (Kalifornia). No breaks here.
