...project continues to grow - Last night, I picked up a stash of 192 Vette Vues Magazines from over the years.

The gentleman was going to throw them out however, he offered them to fellow Vette owners for the hauling - talk about right place, right time :cool

Nice fella! :m :v

Boy and I was excited when I got the 12 issues of Corvette Fever for the entire year of 1987...:L

...tomorrow, the sorting of sales lit. begins :crazy

- most stuff was low cost with some, free :cool

One box was something like 12 bucks for 8 yrs worth of mags.

The most recent, was 192 issues for nothing mre than a handshake :m

Lots of decent folks in the hobby :v :cool

...well, out of 192 magazines, about 6 have Callaway related "items of interest" in them :ugh

Some of the 1987 issues have GM Engineers out running them about, taking them to shows and such.

In another, there is an 89 AeroBody release data sheet - very cool :cool

So far, the most comprehensive issue is the one pictured above for the 1988 intro - It really seems that after that, the focus shifted in that magazine towards the ZR1, with info in about every issue about that.

Aside from the Callaway stuff, there was a BIG focus on the L88 cars in the late 80's, including the "Earthquake 88" at Bloomington Gold that year :eek

It is interesting to look at the fact the L88's were at, or nearing their 20 year (old) mark when they were getting a TON of press - Something to consider for the Callaways, as they have been not only getting a lot of press over the past couple of years, but they also had their "big show" at Bloomington in 2004 - just a few years shy of their 20th ;)

The Corvette Challenge series was HOT in 1988 and 1989, with coverage in every issue :cool

In addition to all this, Vette Vues also had a "Top Dog" shootout between the Callaway Twin Turbo - an 88 w/ free flow exhaust and 3.73's vs. a modded 930 vs. a BMW, vs. a few others... They crowned the Porsche "champion" and lauded its performance in all categories :ugh They also questioned, "what if" the ZR1 had been out in time - and if that would change everything...

All in all, it has been a nice & relaxing Sunday in my easy chair - sifting through boxes of magazines.
Maybe I should go over them again, just in case I missed something...
