Down here we would have poured the floor before doing any of the walls, but I know it's done your way in lots of places.

It gets cold here in The Great White North, so I prefer to drop down 4.5 feet and pour footings below the frostline, rather than build on a slab. Frost can do nasty things with a 1,300 sq. ft. floor.
Also, my preference is concrete block foundation walls with a floating floor inside the box.
