This was mine. She's a 1979 L-82, VIN 1Z8749S418330. The VIN tag on the door, however, reads 1Z8789S418303.....a mistake made by the good union workers at the St. Louis plant. My father-in-law bought the car new, when he was stationed in Hawaii. It was originally Dark Green Metallic, however it had chemical spots on the hood, so it was repainted by the dealership in Two-Tone Claret.

Oyster Interior. P/W, but no P/L.

It originally had 3.55:1, but my father-in-law replaced the rear with 3.08:1.

It had a TH350, but I replaced it with a 700R4 from my stolen '82 L-83.

When I bought it from my father-in-law, in 1996, it had 36,726 original miles. I had the engine re-ringed, heads rebuilt, correct carb located and rebuilt.

Stupidly, after seven years of frustration and $14,000 in repairs, I traded it for a motorhome, in 2003.

I lost my wife to cancer in 2005. I would love to get the L-82 back, restore it and preserve the memory of my wife, who loved this car. I know it's in Texas, thanks to a State Trooper friend of mine, but I don't know who owns it or where exactly it's at.

If anyone knows its whereabouts, please let me know. It will never leave my family again.

Here's a picture of it, after it was repainted again, when I was stationed in Monterey, CA.1979 L-82.jpg
