just bought the car about 3 - 4 weeks ago. its a 93' 40th anniversary coupe (ruby red/ruby red) with the SD LT1 and ZF 6speed w 3.45s out back. ive owned nothing but auto cars since this one, and i can say driving a manual trans is AWESOME! however, since im new to the stick thing, im not very good at launching the car. in fact, this track outing was the very first time i tried racing from a dead stop. probably not a good thing when searching for low E/T, but i dont think i did too bad for my first time out in a manual trans car.
anyway, most of my runs were in the mid - low 14s due to my spinning tires (60fts ranged from 2.3 to 2.4... ugh!). but on my second run, i somehow managed to hook up and posted my best run of the night. heres the breakdown of the timeslip:
60ft - 2.08
330 - 5.85
1/8 - 9.00
mph - 79.26
1000 - 11.65
1/4 - 13.89
mph - 101.51
the car was cooled between passes to about 140/150*. i iced the intake between runs also, and left the line at about 2000 rpms. had about 35psi in the front tires and lowered the rears to about 20psi.
i definately think i could improve my times by just practicing my launches and shifting a bit. possibly mid - low 13s just from improved driver skill. what do you guys think? any tips for launching?
