Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

Rear end noise - bearings perhaps?

No.... been too busy getting other cars on the road and doing other things. I only have a six week window to catch up on "life" stuff before returning for classes. I hope to get to this perhaps this weekend or next and will DEFINITELY let you know!

Thanks for inquiring! :D

Classes? You still in school taking enviromental subjects? If I'm getting too personal, let me know:)

Nope! Not too personal.... heck, I don't have a social life anymore due to being so flippin' busy!

Yea, I am working toward my PhD currently, specifically studying conservation psychology. I get razzed all the time by my colleagues, "How is it that you can be an environmentalist and drive all those POLLUTERS!"..... Its true and has been a source of dissonance for awhile. HOWEVER, I do my part, make sure they pass emissions and drive my motorcycle AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE! Besides, I overcompensate with other environmental behavior. ;)

That was the '84..... I purchased one of those 30 day permits and have been delaying going through to enjoy it for awhile. I was actually thinking about trying today if I get the courage. I ended up putting new IAT's in there but it hasn't changed the low idle. I'll try making it idle higher and hope that helps. Wish me luck!!:eek

I guess some people dont understand the genius involved in a conservationist owning such vehicles for research purposes, right?:L How far along are you in your studies? Yeah, speaking of conservation, lately with our dry weather out here, and people flicking their butts out the window-the fire depts.up & down the I-5 freeway have been kept pretty busy these days.

I wish I could trade you some of the rain we have here in the east. It's been raining 2 out of 3 days here all summer. I have only been on my bikes 4 times so far, and got rained on every time.

I'll bet its kinda dry where Dawn is too! I've been thru Tuscon, quite awhile ago, though

Just an observation. It's amazing how many replies a pretty & smart woman thats into Vettes gets on this forum.

Its funny you mention cigarette butts..... I tell ya it is getting exceedingly difficult at stop lights when I see someone do such disrespectful behavior to NOT just get off my bike or out of my car, pick it up and flick it back in their car. One of these days (soon) I'm sure I will succumb to that urge.

However, I realize this will not prompt them to realize the error of their ways and not do this in the future. So now I am trying to figure out a one or two word phrase that I could simply say to them that would make them realize how devastating that behavior really is.

Also, you think it is hot and dry there..... you should be here! I live a distance from the city and along the road I travel there are burned areas all over the place...... thanks to people and their nasty habit!!:mad :cry

Why thank you! What is amazing to me is how quickly people are posting! Sheesh! I just got the email and replied and before you know it..... three other posts snuck in there before me!

Hey Dawn,

Twin Turbo has a great website that can probably help you with the '84. http://www.crossfire.homeip.net/
You will have to unplug your idle adjuster screw on the rear TB to change the idle speed and set your TPI sensor back to .525 Volts at idle. You may want to check timing, and rebalance your TBI's as well.
I just got my '82 running real well with the help from the folks here.
And don't forget to put new fuel and air filters on too. The environment is full of dust.

Good luck!

Pete.

Thats true, but Dawn definately knows more about working on vettes than I do!:D I only had my 1st one a year before someone plowed into me head-on and destroyed it & almost me,too. This 79 I have now I've only started to be able to work on.Got it in January this year as part of my settlement money. And as for the butt litterers,I'd like to pull them over & make them pick up there own S__T! And I would if I still worked for the Dept. of Defense on a military base:mad

I'll post it to the original thread too but IT PASSED!! IT PASSED!! I conquered emissions! WOO HOO!!! Looks like the luck worked!:upthumbs

Dawn

I love it when a plan comes together! Did you just raise the idle speed and that's it? Maybe those IAC's did the trick.
Happy Trails to you!:) :upthumbs :beer

Both - Used the trusty ol' "foot on the accelerator" bit... But I do think the IAT's helped as well. To go from a 600+ reading at idle to 118 is a BIG DIFFERENCE!
