Now, I already did a search trying to find my answer but couldn't and realize there is a lot of sentiment against adding a rear wing. HOWEVER, I am going to add one to my 90 vert because there are already holes drilled for one AND I like the wings so please, no smart-a-- comments! LOL!!

I realize in the catalogs that there are different part numbers for 84-90 and 91-96 vettes for these rear wings and my question is why? As some of you may recall, my 90 has 96 facias front and back on it. So, which rear wing do I install? And does it really matter? There is this great one on ebay for sale that will save me beaucoup bucks for the 84-90 that will fit my existing drilled holes so I want to buy it but am afraid it won't fit right with the 91-96 facia that I have. Honestly, I can't see what the difference would be. Unless somehow the 91-96 has a slight "angle upward" on the back deck or something this area would seem to be exactly the same. To my knowledge the only difference in the rear is the square taillights.... isn't this true?

Ah HA!! I must have stumped ya'all with this one! A few hours later and no replies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless you're worried about poachers, maybe you could post a link to the Ebay auction.

I'm not an expert by any means, but it seems like the late C4 tail bumper has a bit of a raise at the top tip (look at it from the side). I don't recall it being as pronounced in the early C4's.

Good luck!

Hi Dawn,

This may be a dumb question...but how did the holes get there? (Well....I know how they got there....by a drill!!) Was there a wing on the added fascia before it was installed on your 90??

You might measure the holes and contact the person on ebay who has one and see if they will send you some measurements.

Robert

No no.... I already know the measurements will work - that is not my question. My question is what is the difference in the spoilers and WHY is there a difference in spoilers that change from the 90 to 91?

And yes, I surmise that a spoiler was installed on the car at some point before I purchased it.

I agree w/ that :m

anyone can see that spoiler won't work on a C4. That one will only fit a C5:L

Dawn,
You leave me speechless.;)

89,
That C5 spoiler just leaves me.:eyerole

The late C4s/ZR1 rear is a bit wider than early models. Other than that and square tail lights I do not see much difference.

HA HA HA!!!! Now THAT spoiler was FUNNY! Got me thinking a bit... hmmm...

On another note I think the difference must be something surrounding the "flatness" of the very back rear cover piece, just like what KREX said. Instead of being completely flat, extending from the back deck surface, I would bet that there is a bit of a raise on the 91-95. This would cause the foot pedals to have to be ever-so-slightly different to compensate for that extra bit of raise. It looks like that is the case on mine, but it would be cool if it could be confirmed! Does any of you have an early AND a late C4 that could compare the two rears to see?????

Figured it out!

Ok, it is true; this is what the difference is. I backed mine up to an 84 vette. The 84-90 is flat from the back deck area all the way to the very end of the top of the rear cover. The 91-96 has an ever-so-slight raise to it... its subtle but its there. So THAT is what the difference is in case anyone wanted to know!! Either way I think the spoilers will be interchangable at least in this direction as I can slightly sand it alittle bit I think to make it fit perfect... wish me luck on the auction!!!!!

I wish you luck. Maybe you can fine a newer model wit a spoiler mounted I believe it is the 91-96 to compare. You could then take a level and perhaps a compass to compare/find the angle you would need.

I believe you are a teacher, so I guess you are getting the idea of what I mean using the level and compass.

Post a picture when you get it installed. Drive on!
