My '82 rarely gets driven. She sits for months at a time in the winter. I am leaking trans fluid. Seems to be coming from the area of the rear seal but I'm not sure. I was told that the seal has probably dried out. I was also told that I could use something like Tuneup in a Can to lubricate it and stop the leak. I wonder if I should give that a shot or just go ahead and have the seal replaced.

Any ideas?;shrug

leave it

Hi big Tex, i would not reccomend useing tune up in a can, just clean it of under neath, take your vette for a couple of drives of atleast 15 20 minutes, over a week or so, and you will find that the leak wont return untill you store or leave it
with out useing it for over a month or so, a couple of my old gm cars are like that have been for years, i dont worry about it just check your tran oil level now and again, regards wayne.

Like Wayne said, "Don't use Tune Up in a Can". Try and find that leak. Repair it or have it repaired.
