Trick for changing half shaft U-joints....

To spread the spindle assemblies apart, I used a 3/8 x 44" pipe with an eyebolt stuck in each end. The eyebolts need about 6" of threads. I bought mine at Tractor Supply. I connected them to the bottom knuckle of each spindle where the arm was attached and used a nut on each eyebolt to spread them apart. The shafts were easily removed and reinstalled. I used no helper....'jes my lil ole self!!
 
If you have the tools (air compressor and impact gun) its almost as easy to remove the cotter pin from the spindle then take the 36mm nut off the wheel side. Once you remove the U-Joint straps from the diff the whole Half shaft and spindle will slide right out. Makes changing the outer U-joint easier also.
