    Help! Replacing 1979 corvette seats

I installed 2002 corvette seats in my 78. I used the factory 78 seat brackets, stripped the seats down to the aluminum frame, then attached the stock brackets to the aluminum frame. I had mounted the seat rails to the floor, placed the seat on top of the rails, did some calculations on the angle...

    1978 Stereo upgrade - a must read.

I recently finished up my stereo upgrade on my 78', and thought I'd share the final product. First, thanks to everyone before me that posted notes and photos of their stereo/speaker/amp install. They were very helpful and instrumental in designing what I consider a very well rounded audio system...

    New Rear Differential; speedometer off

My AIM manual has only odd pages from 17 on (go figure!). The specs for Standard Trans is on either page 18 or 20. Anyone have copy? Or if someone has the correct speedo gear for the 3.70, can you post?

    New Rear Differential; speedometer off

I took the plunge and swapped out my 3.36 gears for a set of 3.70. Since most of my driving is cruising, the few hundred extra rpm's on the freeway don't' bother me much. Except that my speedometer is now off. Showing 70 it is actrually 60 (using GPS). I have a saginaw tranny, so which...

78 -79 Rear Differential 3.70 gears OJ code

That's what I have now. Since the majority of my driving is cruising, I'll take the trade off of a bit higher rpm on the freeway with the 3.70.

78 -79 Rear Differential 3.70 gears OJ code

Gary, What kind of issues did the 78-79 years have? Wasn't aware of any. Why those years? 1) I have a 78 and if i'm correct, it would be a direct bolt in as the yoke sizes are the same. 2) without having to rebuild one, my thought was a lower miles 3.70 differential would be a better option than...

WTB 78 -79 Rear Differential 3.70 gears OJ code

Howdy all! I'm looking for a good usable (bolt in) 78-79 rear differential with 3.70 gears; OJ code. Anyone have one for sale or a lead on where I can find one? Thanks Shawn

Help! C5 Seat parts needed for C3 conversion.

I am in the process of converting my 78 seats with C5 seats. I recently purchased a pair of Tan (light Oak) 2002 seats off of ebay w/o seat tracks. Unfortunatley the seller did not disclose that the drivers side had the bezel/control/lever removed. I need those parts to cover up the gapping...

    Vacuum/HP with Comp Cams xe/nx262 & xe268

JohnZ - before disassembly, I did a complete oil change. Then ran the motor with for a few minutes with new oil/filter then drained the oil, removed the filter, pulled the pan & pump. I Thoroughly cleaned out the pan & will replace the oil pump with one from Summit. I checked the cam bearing...

    Vacuum/HP with Comp Cams xe/nx262 & xe268

Here's a question(s) and suggested feedback for those that run either Comp Cam XE268, XE262 or NX262. First here is my set up: 78 L48 Cam (current stock) - well after this weekend, none. I collapsed a lifter and flattened a lobe on the #4 exhaust. Heads: Edelbrock RPM Intake: Edelbrock EPS...

    Seats 78/79

My 78 has leather/cloth seats that are in fair condition. The comfort level isn't the greatest :(, but I've heard that the seats that come in the Pace Car and stock in 79 are some of the best for that era. My question is, can you swamp the two without any coversion to the frames or body...

    Swapping Intake With Edelbrock Performer

Ganey, I've read your post on chambered exhaust a few times before, but i still don't understand it? What exactly makes chambered a poor choice over a true duals with flomasters etc. Is it that there is too little restriction (not enough back pressure) to make HP. And if that is the case...

    Swapping Intake With Edelbrock Performer

robin, I have the chambered exhaust (MA has them for around $325 delivered to your door) and love it! There are others (most notably Heidi) that has posted threads on this topic. I put an h-pipe in just last week to help minimize some of the "popping" that is experienced with true-duals. They...

    Swapping Intake With Edelbrock Performer

Bob, I'd check the recurve on your distributor. According to Lar's, if you did that alone, you should notice a "seat of the pants" differance. I did all the same changes as you and noticed a great improvement (so did the wife!). First was true dual exhaust with h-pipe - better flow and about...

    Exhaust crossover tube

Mike, I just put an h-pipe on my system. I have a MA chambered exhaust and picked up an h-pipe kit from Jegs (Summit also has them). I installed the h-pipe just before the cross member. It was a tight fit but the crossover pipe fits between the tranny mount and the back end of the tranny. Since...
