the o2 sensor will make the check engine light come on. you need to check the codes for sure. But, none of the sensors will make the light stay on when the ignition is off. a bad o2 sensor will cause a rich or lean condition. the computer will try to adjust the mixture control, but will...
the battery switch needs to be attached to the neg. post. its bare metal and could arc if on the positive. it bolts to the battery terminal and the cable attaches to the switch. it has a plastic knob that turns about 1/2 turn to disconnect.
the power for the check engine bulb comes from the computer (ecm) behind seat . power is fed at term "G" which is a brown wire with white stripe. the vulp circuit is grounded when the ignition switch is turned to on or start. this lights the bulb. after a few seconds, if the computer is...
Does anyone have the ETR 8 track CB? Or, cassette CB. Mine only has static, and picks up no one transmitting. Hard to believe that no one is talking on any of the 40 channels. Does anyone know where to get these things repaired? 8 track and radio(am/fm) work fine. Except for a little...
I think that's right (bare aluminum). Most had blue overspray on the edges next to the valve covers. Bare aluminum, especially after it's been glass beaded, is really porus, and will stain with oil, gas, even vapors. One possibility is to have it glass beaded, then paint with dupli-color high...
I read that to be (23) open or grounded mixture control solenoid circuit(carb); (44) is lean o2 sensor indication; and (55) is grounded +8 volt ref, faulty o2 sensor
just installed new rods on my 81. bought from the last detail corvette parts in atlanta. look just like originals. (had to paint). They were $42 each. Bushings are about $15 to $20 (X 4), so it's an easy choice for me. I think the ones for earlier cars are less.
auto zone has them, part # 12028, for $21 . By the way, if you jump accross the wrong two terminals on the ALDL connector, it will cause the check engine light to stay on when the the key is turned on. Mine was opposite to what the pic in the service manual showed. Look for the one that has...
on 80 - 82, has anyone had a difficult time removing the half shafs after removing the snap ring? The end of the shafts look like they have been burred, and the shafts will only move out until this area hits the spider gears. Also, the cross shaft (between the yoke ends) is burred. I see the...
the ACDelco parts page shows:
part # 45U0106, joint kit, propshaft at trans, A/T
part # 45U0106, joint kit, propshaft at rear axle, A/T
part # 45U0106, joint kit, rear axle shaft, inner, A/T
part # 45U0106, joint kit, rear axle shaft, outer, A/T
this says to me that all the joints are the...
in process of changing drive shaft and half-shaft u-joints on my 81 automatic. removed joints and went to oreillys to purchase. they looked up the joints for my car...said all 6 were the same number. the half shafts were that number. but, the drive shaft is smaller. half shaft measures 1...
you need new "well nuts" They are nuts encased with rubber..when tightened, they spread out to fill the hole. the same as used (except they are 1/4), to hold the rear cargo shade to the bulkhead. I think that they're #10 X 24 threads. you can get them at Lowe's; maybe Home Depot.
gymkhana cars (81) had a 9 leaf rear spring. also had 1 1/8" front stab bar and stiffer front coils. trailer hitch package included heavy duty shocks, 4 core rad., extra heavy battery and alt.
I got tired of the lock-up convertor causing to car to shudder at low speeds, and locking up too quickly. I spliced into the tan wire on the 4-wire connector at the tranny, ran it up to a switch next to the seat, and it works great. If in town, I leave the switch off (un-lock). When on highway...
