1962 Corvette Restomod

Photos of the new power brake master cylinder. :w
The power brake pressure comes from an electrically driven hyd pump. We went with this set up because of possible clearance issues with a vacuum cannister type system.

Ran the car yesterday for the first time with the new radiator and the thermostat drilled. With the Vintage Air running and the outside air temp in the mid 90's the engine was at 195 degrees.
You can see from the thermostat design that the holes had to be drilled in the base not the outlet head.
Further road test will be Thursday. :w
Roger:

The holes in the EMP thermostat were drilled in the center section. When I went back to the original thermostat I drilled the holes in the mounting flange, similar to yours except I only drilled two smaller ones. So far it seems to be working fine. My temperature will run between 190 and 200 depending on whether I am going up or down hill. I am using an original temperature gauge that has been "tuned" to indicate properly in the 180-200 degree range and I verified the temperature with my scanning software.

Charles

I ran the 62 Corvette around Butner NC today. No temp problems and the Vintage Air was nice.
I like the new power rack and pinion steering. Also, the electric powered brakes work fine.
Now the 62 Corvette is in the trailer and we will leave in the morning, towing her to the Corvette Show at Myrtle Beach SC this weekend. :w

I drove the 1962 Corvette several miles from the host hotel to the 16th annual Corvettes at Myrtle Beach car show. Lots of traffic lights and plenty of South Carolina June heat. The engine temperature was fine. She ran at 195 degrees except for one long traffic light in the afternoon when the engine read 201 for a moment.
It was a great car show with over 300 Corvettes. :w
I was lucky enough to win best exterior.

The weather forecast was for 60 percent or rain today in Chapel Hill NC.
You can miss a lot of good driving if you listen to the weatherman.
Took the 1962 Restomod out for a nice drive today. I got lots of good :w
from other cars - mostly newer Corvettes.

Soon, I will be getting the new center console for the new navigation/radio screen, clock and
heat/air controls.

That looks real nice. I like the '65 FI plates on the side of the plenum.

When Mr Copeland built this 62 Restomod he put a lot of attention into detail. :w

I have begun to rough fit the new navigation system. :w

It is an Alpine INA-W900BT. It has bluetooth, indash GPS, navigation, USB, DVD, IPod, MP3 and AM/FM.
It took three different vendors and over three months to finally get the fiberglass console.
I did not want to use the original console and heater/clock control plate - in case I messed up and down time.
After fine fitting, I will paint the fiberglass to match the existing Fawn Beige interior.
Don't know when I will be removing the existing set up - hot North Carolina weather is now upon us and
laying under the dash will not be fun. But I will post as things progress.
Roger

I installed LED tail lights in the 62. The photo was taken in bright sunlight and the parking lights were on.
They are much brighter with the brakes/turn signals. :w

Took the hardtop off to fit it to the ceiling mount. Of course it was 95 degrees today and 100 tomorrow, so working outside will not be pleasant. :w

Going to Carlisle?

So, Roger, is your car all ready to DRIVE to Carlisle?

Charles

Charles,
I have the center console out. I am running test wires for my new Nav/IPod/Am/Fm/DVD unit installation. We are going to do kick panel speakers as well as speakers behind the new front seats. Also video wires for the rear camera. The 62 is scheduled to be in the shop for 3 to 4 weeks in Oct but I might get moved up to September.
Which means the interior might be too tore up to take it to Carlisle. :w
