Anyone NOT run their front plate?

Talked to an L.A. cop last week. The LAPD love to give "no front plate - fix-it" tickets. 1- they look for a front plate because many stolen cars do not have them, 2- No radar, no arguements, 3- Boss tells them they they need to write more tickets and these are easy and cost the motorist $40 instead of a $130 speeding ticket.

if you are questioning the front plat put it on under the cover and if you get stopped take the cover off, when you get home put it back on. in PA a front is not required but in WI it was and the vette was never stopped.

thats what I'm doing now, plan to say I was at a show and forgot????;shrug

front plate

I've not used the required front plate for over 10 years. (Gee....it's hard to type this with my fingers crossed!)

I live in new york And I never a front plate and never had a problem. I know have a vanity plate on the front of my C5 and I like it so much I keep the front plate on.

no front plates in NC!:s

I live in california I had never any trouble .My 3rd vette with no front plates

I have my front plate behind the drivers seat, never been pulled over for it but I figure I would put it in the window and do the I m sorry I just cleand the car etc. and it is true I spend almost as much time cleaning as I do driveing, of course I drive mine (weak hearted should close their eyes) in the rain.

Still waiting for my plates, DMV messed it up. Anyhow, looking at the C5R on December CAC calendar, has anyone fitted two driving lights to their street Corvette in the license plate recess? The factory foglights seem pretty close to useless, and thought that may look nice. What fits, could you install a clear lens over them?

I have mine mounted, but underneath the cover. Hopefully, if I'm stopped I can talk the trooper into letting me remove the cover to be in compliance.

I dont. I'm supposed to but it's ugly. I keep the '
"extra" plate behind the passenger seat to prove I haven't split the set to try and run two cars for the price of one. Haven't been stopped yet.:Roll

never had a front plate on either of them or the 66 that I had, or any vehicle I've everowned......

Did the Colo. CACer put his on or marry the officer?

LOL- I'm surprised anyone remembers that thread, Bob. I did neither (althought she was awfully cute.) And now that I have the Z06, not only do I not plan to to put a front plate on it, I plan to use the same excuse I used a year ago when I got pulled over: "Sorry, Officer, I don't know how to affix it to the front. Check it out for yourself- I don't how to take that corvette emblem frame off and put the plate on."

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But this does bring up a question I have. In looking at the pics of the new C6, I can't see that they've even made a place to put a front license plate.

Just wanted to reply to Randy in Italy that it must be a hoot driving a corvette in Italy
on the Autostrada! bh

I don't run a front plate on the C5 but another member of our Corvette club showed me a slick trick. He put velcro stips on the plate cover and on the plate then attached the cover. When he gets stopped he says "geez officer, I was just at a Corvette show and I forgot to remove that cover". They have always let him go..
I'm buying the industrial strength velcro strips and doing the same.
