1. A long list of Corvettes/other cars/bikes in the sig line the poster no longer has.

2. "Car has never been driven in snow, rain, sunshine or moonlight..."

3. People who spend $45K+ on a fun sports car and put only 2,000 miles on it in 4 years.

4. "My friend just got his new Z06, what kind of mods should I tell him to get?"

5. People who buy anything from West Coast Corvettes and then wonder why the product doesn't work properly and the vendor will not take responsibility.

6. People who believe 160* t-stats 'make more power'...

At the risk of sounding glib, I need to get this issue off my chest. All too frequently we see threads on the C5 forum that are just amazing. Here's a few examples (and you are welcome to add some that you love as well):

1. What oil do you use?
2. My C5 water temp is 225 - what's wrong?
3. Which oil filter is the best?
4. I hate "run flats" what should I replace them with?

I hate threads that are viewed by many but replied to by -0-. Makes me WANT to post something, but I don't have a reply either. Especially because it's happened to ME!:cry

Some thoughts-

1. Heidi is correct. Just in the short time I've been a moderator, I've seen the same subjects frequently get raised in new threads. Yes, the person starting thread could have done a forum search- but the fact that they chose to start a new thread tells me they want a response. They want to participate. And as a moderator, I'm not about to go blasting someone for participating in an online forum. That's what we're ultimately here to do.

2. There are those subjects I dread reading when they come up because I just know they are going to be endlessly debated without a resolution. Is Zaino better than Meguiars? Is Corso better than Borla? On and on those threads go. So be it- if people converse and debate and offer ideas, it means people are talking, learning from one another and enjoying the CAC the way it was intended. You won't find any of us chiming in and torpedoing the conversation just because it's been done before.

3. Even when we start a new thread on a subject that may not have been covered before, there is no guarantee it will be a thread with any longevity. That's not why a new thread gets started. It gets started because someone has a question, or an observation, or an idea, or an opinion, and wants to share it with knowledgeable folks who share their passion for Corvettes and the Corvette mystique. And even if the thread goes no further than one or two replies, it has done its job.

4. I get the sense that this winter has been particularly trying. Possibly the worst case of "cabin vette fever" I can remember. Folks in certain parts of the country have been making trips to the garage just to see their poor Corvettes, safely stored for the inclement season, and are getting impatient to get it out again. I can relate and sympathize. For those folks, I say calm down, take a deep breath, and consider that while you're climbing the walls to get it out of the garage and blow out some carbon, you've made it this far- relief is just around the corner. It will be okay. April will bring your salvation.

Trust me, I know of what I speak here.

April. That means time to put spring air in your tires!

So Patrick, tell me, what kind of air do you put in your tires?

I've always been leery of air from the corner gas stations and especially those untrustworthy dealerships. I never take my car to the Chevy dealer to get the air replaced in my tires. Plus they charge too much to replace it. ad Recently I've mostly used filtered air from my own compressor at home, I'm thinking that might be best. Last time I used a gas station for air, I had checked the air in my tires I had them reading 32 lbs when I left the gas station. Next morning the air in my tires had shrunk and they only read 30 lbs!!! Damn! Bad air!!! That's why I don't go there any more!!!:W Plus the thought of possibly getting dirty or contaminated air in my tires is pretty upsetting. I just don't think I could handle the embarrassment on cruise nights... :cry

I lurked for awhile before posting because I didn't want to ask questions that would cause members to roll their eyes in frustration, convinced I was dumber than a box of rocks, and deserving no replies or sarcastic replies only. I've gotten a few, but for the most part, members are patient and interested in sharing some bit of knowledge with me.

I appreciate that. I feel bad for newbies too that don't get replies to their questions/threads. I usually post a note to them that although I can't help them with their issue, welcome to the site, and someone will be along soon who can help. Then I email a link to the thread to someone I think CAN help.

I think you said it all! I can well remember asking some, if not all, of these inane questions because I knew next to nothing about Corvettes!! I'm not talking about technical questions, either!:L

I appreciated, and still appreciate, all those answers to what some may consider dumb questions. I particularly like the fact that Corvette Action Center members are so helpful!

I didn't take offense at all. Nice thing about this place is you couldn't toast marshmallows over the amount of flames present! And when we do have occasional flareups, Rob and the mods have the fastest fire extinguishers known to man! :L

Then I use them at all the events, Cruisefest, Carlisle, there's nothing like flaming someone after round two or three of the blenders face to face. Gives you a good idea of how thick the skin is, and how they handle their booze

Yessiree.

I prefer to recycle the air from tire to tire to maintain that OEM feel on the road.
