Final paint shop visit

Were all of those windows shaking in unison?
Strange thing is everyone (including security) ducked under their desks as I pulled up on the sidewalk.

Geesh.....people are a tad nervous these days. ;LOL

I told those guys at lunch today that you didn't have any snow in Canada yet, we were discussing getting together at Auburn and tagging on to the Kruse event and it was mentioned that the Canadians would still be snowed in ;LOL

If I'm wrong, no big deal. The removing of the pill is only one of 27 steps I perform to help make it hard to steal. Firing this baby up requires running down a checklist like in a 747. ;LOL Just getting it out of the garage requires an additional 4 or 5 steps.

By the time everything's a go, I'm ready to go back in for a snack. :D
;LOL Looks great Bob.

On the way down to GM Headquarters for the photos today, cruising along in 2nd gear, I was forced to pull into the left lane (4-lane street) to go around a construction crew.

I signalled while still quite a ways back but a RAM pickup suddenly accelerated to try to stop me from moving over in front of him. He was about 4 cars back.

I squeezed the pedal a little harder than I have to date during the break-in and those massive rear tires let out a serious yelp, the rear end wiggled to the right and I was in there with an attitude.

RAM backed way off. :D

If 1/3 throttle provides that much "instant" torque at 30mph, I'm gonna have to have some Wheaties for breakfast on the 500-mile morning. ;LOL

Technology has made great advances with EFI and computer controlled motors, but a 502 in a mid year is something that will embarass them if they toy with it

Did the folks at the GM plant appreciate your visit? I mean I don't expect the local Senior Executive Committee to come out and drool over your fenders or anything but did anyone come out and thank you for dropping by?

If I had gone to the GM assembly plant (largest GM facility anywhere in North America!!!) it would have been pandemonium.....but this was the headquarters building, Mac. :eyerole :z

ie "beancounters" ;LOL now if you had driven a few hundred miles west and parked it by the tech center in Warren you might have a different reception.
there is a Vette show at the tech center, but I haven't made it up there yet.
Maybe next year. We had a covering of snow last night, but not much, I usually pray for snow this time of year for Deer Season :L

After producing an amazing paintjob, the team at the paintshop topped it off with a personal gift this morning. What a nice surprise!!!

UltimateHistory.JPG

Hard cover. 192 pages. Full of colour photos and interesting new insights into our favourite car and the people behind it....up to and including the new C6.

ISBN 1-40543-847-9, Paragon Publishing, United Kingdom. Copyright 2004 Trevor Legate (who did a good job....aside from the all too frequent factual errors :D )

Nice people. Not many shops would be that enthusiastic about a customer and his Corvette.

Tom

I had a look at the book and made the appropriate noises towards Mrs. Mac. We'll see if she picks up the hint or not.

Ron and Kurt and the boys at the paint shop have always given you nothing less than 200% all the time and here they do more again! :upthumbs You really picked the perfect guys to do the '67, that's for sure. It's not enough that they are such experts at what they do, they just keep giving and giving and are such a wealth of knowledge too! You couldn't ask for more friendlier enthusiastic, helpful people to deal with. I've had the pleasure of meeting these guys a few times and they are always the same, sincere ,honest, modest guys who really love what they do for a living and do it with pride and integrity.

You're so thorough researching things I know you found them but what a bonus you got when you made this choice. Sorry to rant but the amount of great people I have met through you on this wonderful project is unbelievable and never ceases to amaze me. No wonder you smile so much!:D

And the hits just keep on comin'. :D

Ron (the painter) called and said, "Drop by on Friday afternoon. I've got a little surprise."

Now, after receiving the hardcover Corvette book the other day, I figured, what could possibly be next?

since he is now using your car on his business cards, does that mean you keep a small royalty on each job he does?
:D
