Voorthuist, glad to hear that the Magnaflows worked out for you too. I still think they are a great deal for the money. I love them every time I hit the gas.

I wanted to bring this back to the top because I had the same question. My Magnaflows will be arriving on Friday (also from Performance Peddler, $320 shipped). I was wondering about the resonator and the crossover. I figure if I am going to spend the money on the exhaust, I might as well do it all at the same time. Well, except for headers. I've read about people putting the balance tube as far forward as they could, and also as far rearward. What's the scoop on that? I've been told it would be cheaper to order a crossover and have it installed, rather than having a shop make one. Does anyone know of some websites that sell these? Is there really a HP increase w/ one installed, or is it just for less resonance? One more question, anyone recommend a good exhaust shop in the San Antonio, TX area?voorthuist said:Thx pal!
BTW Did you ever pull out your resonator, or do you plan to do so? And do you know if there's an x-pipe available for 95/96?

Hey Mr. consultant, I purchased the Magnaflows from Performance Peddler( $345.00), UPS dropped them off on my front door, I installed them myself (your were right – about an hour), took it for a ride, then drove it right down to the muffler shop and had them welded up!Green LT1 said:Voorthuist, glad to hear that the Magnaflows worked out for you too. Johnny, glad to hear your Magnaflow experience went as well as mine. The weather here is getting better, and I have driven my '96 quite a bit in the last week. I still love those Magnaflows! The sound is definitely aggressive, but not obnoxious. I have had absolutely no problems with the Magnaflows after the installation. As you noticed, the resonance is extremely minor, and is not a problem at all. I still think they are a great deal for the money. I just chasnged my coolant over the weekend, and that was a trip! Now I need to plan a few other Vette projects in the weeks ahead to get ready for cruising on those warm summer days and nights.johnny sammut said:Hey Mr. consultant, I purchased the Magnaflows from Performance Peddler( $345.00), UPS dropped them off on my front door, I installed them myself (your were right – about an hour), took it for a ride, then drove it right down to the muffler shop and had them welded up!
I tried Flowmaster two chamber and then three chambers, Borla, and something else that I have now thrown in the reject pile. The Magnaflows have approximately 90% less resonance than any of the others that I tried. Thanks for the input, there a keeper!
Yep, they can be moved up. I modified the brackets and the pipe a bit so that the mufflers sit way up there.spyysee said:I'm also looking to replace my 10 year old dynomax super turbo muffs, but those
magna flows hang a bit to low ...they look akward? Can they be "tucked" up ?
:confused
Johnny, can you post some pics so we can see how they look? Thanks.johnny sammut said:Yep, they can be moved up. I modified the brackets and the pipe a bit so that the mufflers sit way up there.
Wow, $320 delivered sounds like a great deal. Where did you order from?MCNE said:I just ordered a pair yesterday. I think they were $320 delivered so I should have them sometime next week. I don’t have a reciprocating saw so I need to find some other way to cut the existing exhaust. I'll then have them welded at some point after that.
What else can be used the cut the exhaust? I think all I have is a Jigsaw and a circular saw.

I'm not sure if the LT4 has it, but it should be after the resonator & before the spare tire. (tube going from one side exhaust pipe to the other)Rich96c4ce said:Where should it go? I hear that the LT4 has one, where is it?

By jigsaw do you mean a small hand-held sabre saw? That would probably work if you use a fine-tooth metal cutting saw blade. If you're ready for a workout, a hacksaw would do. Getting access to the proper location to cut will be the issue. Whatever you do, wear some eye protection from the chips that will be flying.
