Yes I bought the system for the 86-up and then bougth a used Catalytic coinverter from a vette salvage yard for $45, total bill was $461 including shipping.

You can buy them here for $406 including shipping and actaully get a new cat 86-up, from them for an extra $60

They give you a 25% discoutn if you type vetteforum into the coupon area

This is a Mirror Finish SS catback system, y-pipe, mufflers, clamps...included
LD5,
What Corvette Salvage yard did you get the converters from? I have contacted a few of them and some didn't have any and one or 2 couldn't sell used converters due to legal issues. I am looking for a pair of used ones for my '93 to gut

I noticed on Magnaflow's web site that it says the 15623 mufflers have 3" inlets. I just measured my pipes at 2 3/4" in the straight section ahead of the curve at the muffler inlet. What's the deal? Has anyone had an issue with this?
Thanks,
Ken

Kenwa, the Magnaflows have 3" inlets to allow them to slip over the 2 3/4" factory pipes. They fit with no problem whatsoever, either using the supplied stainless steel clamps or having them welded in place. By the way, we both have good taste when it comes to the color of our '96s, right? If you have any other questions about the Magnaflows or how to install them, just let me know. Mine are working great, and I love the sound!

Looks like my order wasn't shipped when I was told it was so I'm waiting another 5 business days. :mad Customer service is so bad these days.

Received and installed mine today:D I only have a whapping 10 miles on them but the weekend should be nice. What has everyone done with the old mufflers and tail pipes?

Just double checking. Are you sure about this #?

MCNE, how do you like the sound? I kept my stock mufflers in the attic, just in case I ever need them again for any reason. Happy motoring!

I'm gonna keep mine, like I do all the parts I change if possible, in case there's ever a reason to go back to stock. They show up on ebay sometimes, but they don't bring much.

WOW! Deep V8 sound at low speeds but really not very load on the highway. I was pleased with that. The thing I do like the most is the look. Very professional looking mufflers but I don't like the clamps. They look bad from the rear. It looks like I have the right side sticking out about a 3/4 of an inch more that the other though.

MCNE, which way did you orient the clamps? Is it possible to turn them so the u-bolt nuts are not seen? Anybody got pics of the clamps installed?

Ken

I have the nuts facing down. I'll see if it's possible to turn them since I need to adjust the left side anyway. Although the threads are a little long.

If anyone in the Northern Va area or Metropolitan DC, Md area would be interested I've got a pair (15623) available for pick up in Vienna Va or Charles Town WV for $325. I was going to use just these mufflers and changed to a complete system. They're "New never installed NO box" I do not want to ship!
Reply by e-mail please I don't get to the CAC very regular. If need be I'll send phone# by return and you can call regarding the mufflers.

Thanks,
Dave

Magnaflow

I used to love FLOWMASTER, till I got mag's on mine.
I will always use MAGNAFLOWS now. A year later I put an X-PIPE
on and the sound is just plain awesome now.:D

magnaflows are on!!

I just wanted to post that I finally drove my 1996 LT1 with the new Magnaflow mufflers installed. It sounds great! Deep, low rumble at idle, and it screams when you stand on it. However, not obnoxius at all. There is a very small resonance at around 1,800 RPM, but not a problem at all. I could not be happier. I still recommend the Magnaflows for those who want a significant increase in sound (but not too loud), at a reasonable price.
Just wanted to let to let you know that my Magnaflow muffler were installed today, and when I turned that motor for the first time with them on, it was oh so sweet. I have a six speed and I thought that when I put it in six, with the rpms under 2000, it would resonate. To my delight, the muffs sound very good, deep and very wonderful. Even inside the car, they give a sound that any car guy would love. Thanks for the info.

Ohsobad, I really am happy that the Magnaflows worked as well for you as for me. Just like you, I felt like a kid in a candy store when I first started the car after installing the Magnaflows. I still LOVE the sound when I stand on it a bit. My wife says she can hear me coming from well down the block, but the sound is a deep rumble, not obnoxious. When I started my quest for new mufflers, I wanted my 96 to sound like a Corvette should (I still love the sound of a mid-year with side pipes), not like a luxury car. I think I made the right choice, and I wanted to help others out who were after the same sound as me, at a reasonable price. Now let's go for a drive with the windows (or top) down and listen to that great rumble!
