Please help me set my son straight. :argue

He asked me how I know that I have a C4. He thinks that C4 is a special type of engine. :confused

I told him that C4 refers to the generation that the car was made in.

For example:
C1 = 1953-1962
C2 = 1963-1967
C3 = 1968-1982
C4 = 1984-1996
C5 = 1997-2003
C6 = 2004-?

He says I'm wrong. If I am, then slap my hands as a Vette owner and put me in my place! If I'm right, then please comment so I can give it to him in writing. :mad

Thank you to all you Vette owners!

Debbie

You can give it to him in writing!!! :r

(Except the C5 is until 2004 - C6 2005?)

Well again, Mom knows best. Of course even if we all say that you are correct, which you are, he will not believe any of us:D
Just remind him of this when he, in the future, want to drive the Vette

Thank you, thank you. I will now push the print button and hang it on his bedroom door. Better yet, I'm going to wake him up and show him!

Thanks again!

Debbie :D

C4 = Year made

The term 'C4' applies to Corvette from 1984 to 1996. The use of C1 to C6 was not always used. The early Corvettes were called 'solid axles' and the next generations were called 'mid-years'.

The engines have names like: LT1, LT5, LS1. He should have to wash the vette for you for being wrong :BOW Remind him of the two rules.

1) Mom is always right
2) When mom is wrong, see rule 1

You are correct.

The designation did not start until the C5 was in testing, and GM started calling it the C5-fifth generation corvette. Before then they just called C4s late models, C3-sharks/stingray, C2-midyear, C1-solid axles.

Although the last C1 is totally different from the 53.

Tell sonny it's C4=Corvette-4th generation.
