Welcome to the Corvette Forums at the Corvette Action Center!

The car is packed 48 states await

Question and Answer Time

Hi everyone and Seasons Greetings. As we get ready for the holidays, I thought this would be a good time to talk a little about the trip.

I would like to do it through questions from forum members about many different aspects of the 48 state romp.

The subjects could be :

fuel, repairs, logistics, planning, engine data, car wear and tear, mental state , physical conditioning, packing, roads, planing, food and anything else you can think of.

These questions can come from members who I have visited and from others who may be planning a short or long trip.

I have learned quite a bit and would be happy to share some of my experiences in this Q & A way. It will also help me as I start work on the project after the New Year.

I hope the answers will help in your plans.

Remember, your car loves to be driven. Life is too short, weather permitting get off the rear and get into the car.

Jack

PS I am going to post this as a new thread also for members who may not be familiar with this thread.

Neither snow nor sleet nor wind will keep me off the roads

Its fine weather for a sleigh ride. I just put bells on the car and off we go Maine on the coast today at 4 pm

Nice to see old friends

After seeing that car in settings all over the country, it's great to see it all rested and looking good at home for the holidays! I hope you're doing well also, Jack. Thanks for one heck of a story. Have a great New Year and lots of new adventures.

Happy New Year to you and everyone else.
Pat and I were glad to be part of your adventure.

These photos are not in order, I still have to do the first few days of trip

They will be next, Hope all had a good NYE and are enjoying themselves , although there are a few " jackapple mambee pambies " who need a pair of gloves or a hat in the northwest, complaining about the cold weather.

Enjoy

Part number 4

I hope everyone had a great New Years Day. Me guilty of Sarcasm? Well I 'll be damned, I am sure you all know that I just can't help myself, I have met so many crazy people on my trip, it has been hard to contain myself.

Oh, sorry ,,, just kidding..... You all have made it a trip to remember.

Does anyone know what it will cost to get my car to Europe by boat? I am starting to think about the next trip.....

In the meantime .... enjoy

Part number 5

Hi, l I would like to unofficially , officially announce

" The Car is packed and Europe awaits "

I will spend the next month or so researching and planning a ride around Europe. If I can make it work, budget , transportation and lodging wise, at the end of that time, I will book transport for my car.

I am leaning towards late August to send car and start trip on Sept 1, 2010. I hope to spend about 4 to 5 weeks on the road.

I know it is crazy, but having put almost 3,000 miles on my car since coming home , it seems that I am not done driving yet.

I will start a new thread soon, but will use this one for a while to gather information. If you have friends abroad and they would like a visit from a wayward corvette guy, let me know.

If you are abroad and are a member of a Corvette Club , or have a Corvette and would like me to stop by........

" Have Car, Will Travel "

As Alfred E. Newman once said " What , me worry ? "

Are you going to make it to Michigan? Let me know. I am just outside of Detroit. I can take you to a couple of places you might be interested in. Larry Courtney

Last Ride before snow storm

To all my friends in the south, be careful in the snow.

No driving today, but I did go 100 miles yesterday from Cape Elizabeth to Georgetown to visit a friend. It may be the last ride for a while.

Winter ride Feb 4

I tried very hard not to drive, but today it is 28' and roads are almost dry.

No it is not my house

Drive your car, all you have to do is throw a bucket of water on the wheel wells until you can take it to the car wash.

Here is the photo bucket album
