With These C3's It NEVER Stops

This morning my 4000 watt foot-mounted Winco 120/240 volt generator burned up after only 6 months of use. As I live "off the grid" I rely on generator power to power my lights and well pump. At least I'm still able to keep my eight 6-volt deep cycle batteries charged so I can run my computer and 7-1/2 watt overhead light with inverter power. If it's not one thing it's another.

Seems Joe B strikes again.

Sounds like it was undersized based on what you're trying to run off of it

Can anyone conjecture what a 7.5 watt watt overhead light could possibly be used for?

Decorative or indicator bulbs is what Westinghouse says; only with a medium (E26) screw base ....

Somehow medium screw seems to be quite appropriate here..
:chuckle

I'm glad I made someone feel good about my age.;LOL

My revenge would be simple... I could share the price of a 1969 427 COPO Camaro or a 69 BB Corvette. If that wasn't enough the price of blue Sunoco 260.. :D

As the song says Those were the days my friend, We thought they'd never end. Unfortunately they did end...

Boy, I remember Sunoco 260, "260 action to be used, not abused". That was an invitation to me.

How about one step higher - Pure Blend....was supposed to be a gazillion octane.

As with some toys it was more than an invitation it was required..

One of the neat things about a C2 was looking in the tank and seeing blue...
;)

Now the clutch plates in my 3.70 rear end are starting to chatter. I have two of the Sta-Lube tubes of friction modifier in it and it has been quiet for the last 50,000 miles so I can't imagine why it would start to chatter now. I didn't think friction modifier wore out as time went on but maybe it does.

Did you remove all the old fluid first?

Yep, it was new Sta Lube 85W140 gear lube with two of the Sta Lube tubes of friction modifier. I've never known of friction modifier to fail over time but maybe the additional heat from pulling the 10 mile long 6% grade has cooked it. I'll put one more tube of friction modifier in it and see of that stops the chattering. That'll be 12 ounces which is a lot more than usually recommended.

I drove I-26's Saluda grade for years. The Silverado does a bunch of downshifting; the Corvette does it effortlessly in 6th. Failures due to grade angles usually indicate inadequate lubrication or low lubrication levels.

Too much friction modifiers can make the friction plates too slippery causing slipping.

X2! Pop the gas cap on my 66 and the blue color was so cool to see..

Yeah, but not quite all the way gone. Mine's a 77, but it's old school. Close as I can get right now.

Is this guy for real? Sounds like the late Rodney Dangerfield. "I just don't get no respect!"

Let's hope not.

But if it is TBTR has earned it.

Best case scenario: some 6 year old kid screwing around on a computer.
