With These C3's It NEVER Stops

The topic of this thread is "the ongoing problems that occur with C3's" so please stay on topic. If you have nothing to contribute to this thread then please ignore it. The reason you haven't seen any evidence of my dispelling C3 myths is because you have been led to believe the myths are true. If members get upset over hearing the truth about things I can only pity them. If you really want me to "go away" I will be more than happy to oblige you and then this forum will return to the totally dead forum it was before I came here.

TBTR,
Vettehead Mikey called you out and that is your best answer? Do a search for Toobroketoretire and you'll see what everyone else has they same opinion of your null manure as we do..
Some of your so-called advice would endanger anyone foolish enough to follow. Example, running 10 or so PSI less than recommended in tires.
In my and obviously, in the opinions of others; you have nothing to contribute to this site.

As Vettehead Mikey said go find another site.

Edit:
I apologize for the double post as TBTR's answer to Mikey peeved me off.

And what kind of "dangerous" information have I repeated? Please give me an example.

If you'd read even half the posts aimed at you- you'd have our answer.

Don't let the door hit you on your way out. A quiet forum is infinitely preferable to a laughing stock forum which is what you seem to be intent on doing. Buh-bye!

Ok, now I gotta know. What myths are you talking about?

You have numerous types of bad/dangerous information ranging from running dangerously low air pressure in tires to cleaning paper air filters with gasoline. Read your own posts.

TBTR doesn't read anything others post as he is too busy posting his crock of bull malarkey.

Well said, sir.

A quiet forum filled with good advice and mutual respect for others is far better than the bull stinky you offer.

TBTR, what you claim to be and do are what you never were and never did. Guess what sport, except for you; everyone here knows it.

Given that some of what you post does't even belong in the C3 section of the forum being off topic in one thread is hardly an issue, espescially when his comment if following the evolution of the thread.

For what it's worth many of your problems are not even C3 related, they are problems all cars have, especially as they get older. You just seem to have one thing after the other. Some of what you see seems to be a problem with workmanship. Maybe you should try taking your car to someone else and have them sort out all of the issues, the guy that does it now doesn't seem very good at what he does.

I look forward to the day where you move on to another board, maybe you'll find a pool of naive enough kids that you'll get the recognition and ego boost you feel you deserve. Let's hope nobody gets hurt along the way.
As one of the younger (by quite a bit I suspect) active members of this forum I think even kids will pick up on his myths and dodgy methods very quickly.

You guys remind me of a pack of African hunting dogs going after a crippled wildebeest but in this case we have several forum members launching a hate campaign toward another member. It is a clear violation of forum rules but I guess the moderators are asleep or just don't care. I would like to remind you the majority of viewers are non-members all over the world and what you are doing is a disgrace to America.

There was a time in which replacement parts were quality parts but over the years China has become a major supplier and the quality has really taken a dive. So now days replacement parts have a very short lifespan which means our C3's are broken down more than ever. It was not uncommon for OEM fuel pumps to last 500,000 miles but now days they are lucky to last 10,000 miles. The same thing is happening with electrical components as it's not unusual for ignition modules to fail in just a couple of years of average use. I have had very poor luck with AC Delco or Delco Remy parts but I have had very good luck with Standard Motor Product parts.

As usual your point of view is actually quite the opposite in reality.

Since you are trying to act like an expert on the subject, when exactly were you in Africa watching a pack of hunting dogs going after a crippled wildebeest?

And I repeat, what myths are you trying to dispel?

Leaking Left Rear Tire

It was cold, windy, and rainy all day yesterday so I remained indoors most of the day. If the sun comes out today I'll pull the tire off and submerge it into water (I use my big wheelbarrow filled with water for leak-checking). If it has a nail in it I'll plug the hole. I keep an electric air compressor in my '71 along with a plug kit for those roadside emergencies that usually occur when I'm far from home.

How many of you keep an air compressor and plug kit in your C3?

Here's A Good One For You

I went to the True Value lumberyard a week ago when it was raining (the sky, not the lumberyard). When I arrived I shut my engine off and my windshield wipers kept running (???). I turned the key back on and off and they kept running. I was under the impression wipers would quit when the key is turned off or does that not apply to the earlier C3's with wiper doors?

Well, you're the one who says 'with these C3s it never stops', so I guess for once you've been proven right.

I phoned your neighbour, he said he'll be right over with some unsolicited advice. :thumb

Your the the self professed know it all, you should be able to tell us.

Chinese Windshield Wiper Switch

About two years ago I bought a Chinese windshield wiper switch and it broke the very first time I used it. I bought another switch but that time I took it apart and reinforced the weak area with a piece of bent aluminum and epoxy. Once reinforced the switch has worked perfectly ever since. The problem is the Chinese make duplicates of the OEM switches but use substandard materials that bend or break. I had a new Chinese gas tank sending unit start leaking in only 6 months so I had to tear it apart and use epoxy to seal where the wires exited because the rubber seal the Chinese used wasn't compatible with American gasoline. My new Predator 14 hp engine started leaking really bad because the o-rings on the fill screws literally collapsed from heat. Common neoprene o-rings took care of the problem. The valve cover gasket also leaked horribly because it too was made from a substandard material. Fortunately Honda makes the same valve cover gasket but using a superior material. I'm sure China will eventually get their problems solved but in the meantime we have to suffer from premature failures caused by substandard materials. Back in the 50's and 60's the Japanese also produced junk but now days they produce better quality parts than we Americans produce.

They are engineered to his spec's!😁

TBTR:
Dumb question, if Chinese made parts are so bad why do you keep using them??

Dumb maybe, but only because you are assuming that he actually knows the country of origin of his improperly installed parts, that were broken after careful and meticulous installation by the self proclaimed "Mister knows it all".

He apparently does not like China though.

Leaking Caliper

Now my right front caliper is leaking or at least I suspect it's leaking. On every stop my '71 is pulling to the left so it seems the right front brakes aren't doing their job. Does it ever end? Fortunately I keep new seals and pads in stock so it's just a matter of fixing it when I feel up to it.
