Special Tool for Intake Plenum Torx Bolts?

This brings back memories.:ugh I had a couple plenum bolts that wouldn't come out also. I used a small angle grinder to cut a nice big slot across the head of the bolt. I then put a dull bit in a short throw pneumatic chisel and came into the slot at an angle to turn the bolt. Between the...

'89 Warm start problem. Forum members BEWARE!

The real lesson is that most failure modes have multiple things that can cause the failure. That's why you should diagnose the problem down to the failing component and not just throw parts at it.

    Corvette Body Repair

You need to make sure it gets fixed really good. I haven't used Kiss' personally, but I have seen some of their work and it looks good. They could probably give you some references.

35TH Build Tag for the console

I hear you. Mine is in a baggie hanging on the side of the fridge. It came off and I was lucky enough to find it. I had the same thing happen with one of the fender side emblems. I found that one too and put it back on with JB Weld. It's been holding up for a couple years now. I'll...

    rear wheel alignment...

Sounds like the camber adjustment is off. A four wheel alignment should take care of it.

    Opinion: OEM Stereo or Not

I replaced mine for three reasons. 1. All four speaker amps were gone/going. 2. I can now play CDs. 3. We do quite a bit of cruising with our club and I can now listen to the radio and talk on the CB at the same time. With the Bose system, the radio had to be turned off before the CB mic...

Question about Dash Replacement Bulbs: 1988 Corvette

IT takes 4 bulbs. The type number may be in the owner's manual.

Strange Idle relating to average mpg display

I've seen my mpg display go to 12.5 when I have a scan tool connected. With the relationship of the mpg display and idle issue occurring at the same time, I would suspect that the problem is electrical. How to find it is a whole different question. Do you have the factory service manuals?

    C4 U joint replacement

My control arm bushings were starting to crack and show some wear, so I replaced those while I had the control arms off.

I just changed out my factory installed battery.

I usually replace mine around 5 or 6 years as preventive maintenance. I don't want something as inexpensive and easy to replace as a battery to leave me stranded.

    87 designed cooling temp

Factory design on the '88 is for the fan to come on at 230. It rarely gets that hot unless in heavy stop and go traffic. I would think the '87 would be the same.

    c4 targa top

The best I've come up with is the cordless screwdriver with a long T40 bit. It beats the heck out of the ratchet, but still isn't near as convenient as the newer ones. You'll find the vast majority of the posters on this site to be mature, friendly, and helpful. Rob and the moderators run a...

    Question: Opinions on XM Radio?

We've had XM for a few years now. First on the Buick LaCrosse and now on the Saturn Aura XR. My wife loves it. I could probably get along without it, although I do listen to it sometimes on my comupter at work. We travel between Minneapolis and Chicago occassionally, so being able to get...
