How to keep a cat off your car???

I think Remington makes something , I believe it is called 22 Cal. Canine also has something, it is called pit bull. Sorry, couldn't resist. Seriously, the pet spray works well but be sure not to over spray on to the paint. Be sure to spray along the botom edge of the cover(s). cats like to...

    Another skip-shift question

I believe the skip shift feature was added by GM because of certain EPA requirements and really doesn't effect the performance of the vehicle. I have heard from other late model corvette owners that the best, cheapest and safest way to avoid the skip shift light is to just give it a little more...

    Stress crack touch-ups

Try a very fine and very soft toothbrush to get the old wax out of the cracks , than wash and than apply the colored wax. Should help cover some of the cracks. Steve

CA Corvetters...the State wants your car!

As usual it boils down to money and politics --- again. It is unfortunate they we have to fall prey to someone's or some group's special agenda. It sounds to be a money issue and what better way to get attention and get money -- cite the enviroment. Hopefully Arnold will see the stupidity in...

Could you drive your Vette as a daily?

Like most vette owners up North, I am a fair weather driver. I suppose I could driver it everyday but the gas/fuel expense would be outrageous. Besides it gives me something to look forward to. Steve

another oil question. just a quick q though.

Very controversial topic with many different theories. Vehicle usage, miles per year, type of driving, climate, time between oil changes, type of engine are some of the factors that should be considered when choosing an oil. No doubt the synthenics have superior lubricating and cold flow...

    door gap

rowingone, On my 66 the gap with the door closed is approximately 3/16, with the door barely open it is hard to measure because the fender starts to over lap the fender but I measured a tad over 1/16. Steve

    66 BB Air Cleaner Decals

Rowingone, That is I thought, viewing various pictures I did notice the differences. I wasn't sure which one was correct, I quess whatever pleases the eye is the way to go. It is amazing that GM would have such variances with something that is so visible. Thanks, Steve

    66 BB Air Cleaner Decals

Does anyone have a picture of the 66 BB air Cleaner ( top lid ) ? I removed the old decals without taking measurements. I know the cubes and horsepower decal goes on the outer rim but where does the cross flag decal sit? Does it sit in the middle between the wing nut and outer rim or does it...

    VIN Location on a 66

DZ, That is exactly what I had in mind. Brass wire tooth brush, mirror and flashlight. Going to give it a try today. Thanks, Steve

    Differential cushion replacement

Brian, Thanks for the GM part numbers. I bought the poly parts but I have decided to use the GM rubber parts. Even with the fat GM rubber cushion you still needed all those washers? How does your trans mount cushion look? Maybe that has collasped and is giving the drive shaft an unusual angle...

    Which to choose?

Let me see -- what will I do today? Shovel snow or chop ice? Some of us have all the luck. Hopefully It will get above 10 degrees today so I can go out to the garage and dream of spring. Enjoy your rides . Steve

    Differential cushion replacement

allcoupedup, I thought the same, using ramps ( not having the wheels hang ) would probably relieve some of the upward travel of the carrier. Great photo, what did you finally install, poly or rubber ? Steve

    VIN Location on a 66

I read in one of the past threads that there is a second location for the VIN. Besides the standard location, under the glove box, the VIN is apparently stamped on the left ( Driver side ) rear frame rail by the tire. I am curious and would like to locate mine. Is it where the frame rail arches...

Looking to go beyond 502c.i. with short deck

While at the chevy dealer the other day , picking up parts for my project, they told me about the 572. And according to them it would drop right into my 66. It has plenty torque and said to use pump gas. The complete engine, less exhaust goes for about $15,000. 67 Heaven --- are you trying to...

    Differential cushion replacement

Gerry, Thanks for the info. And you are absolutely right, I would like to do things only once -- that is why all the questions. 66 427-450, My bottom cushion, which is the original and still on the vehicle ( compressed ), measures a tad over 3/4". The top one I can not see. The new...
