Please reply if you think you know what's wrong with my '88! On a recent roadtrip it would not accelerate above 2600 RPM. Just sputtered and had no power. I limped it along until it nearly overheated. Chevy dealer diagnosed it as a bad cat converter and replaced it. It ran fine for 3 weeks, then cat slipped out of place. When another shop repositioned it and clamped it down again the car began sputtering again around 3000 rpm. No power and running hotter than normal.
I'm about to do a tuneup (dist. cap/rotor, plugs, plug wires, fuel filter, PCV valve, & set timing) I'm hoping that solves the problem, but have you had similar symptoms? Think you know the problem? Let me hear from you! (My '88 is a Z51 but other wise stock L98
engine with 70,000 miles).
Does this sound like injectors? Distributor? The car doesn't have the acceleration power it ought to have and above 3000 rpm it really sputters and seems like it's just stuck with no acceleration power.
