My stay with you and Foiney was a visit that I will not soon forget. I felt very special and your hospitality was more than I could have hoped for.

Roanoke Virginia

As I head north I made an overnight visit to Wib Wood in Roanoke VA.

Wib has owned his 61 for 39 years and has every piece of paper showing titles etc. Of course he and the car come from West Virginia and they only have 10 cars in the state......... just kidding..... I think

Wib also took me to the Star of Roanoke, built in 1949 , 100 feet high overlooking Roanoke

Car Fix

I left Roanoke at 8 am, it was raining, but my third latch worked like a charm and no leaks. I out drove the weather and it was clear after an hour. Great road, 81 to 51 to 340 to 270 to 495 to Chevy Chase.

The trip was not without incident. On a lonely stretch of road my alternator bolt broke again. My bracket cracked in Texas and as some of the other posts show, we replaced the bolt in Florida , thanks to Cor24vett near Panama City. The bracket was still broken and the stress caused the bolt (long one) to break again in Chapel Hill NC. We replaced it and off I went.

Well on the road to West Virginia, it broke again, I pulled over to the break down lane and drove at 10 miles an hour to the next exit.

Well here I am in Weyers Cave VA , hoping to find a car parts store....... right

I see in a distant field a bunch of old cars and a tow truck, so off I go down a country side road and find

I go inside and find Van. Explain my problem and he says I think we can fix it.

Well I found my way to another amusement park operated my Bluestripe67. It's been a great fun ride with good food,several fellow long term Vette owners, some on the CF and some not, but all true Vette enthusiasts.

Of course you all are wondering why my writing skills have improved in just 5 hours, but that's a story for another time.

Have been following your trip the whole way through and have been looking forward to meeting you if you happen to go through DE on your trip home.

Unforutnately, I will be in and out of the country (mostly out) from Oct 23 through Nov 9. I'm in ATL now and will be home tomorrow (Oct 22) but have to leave again on Sat night (Oct 23)

I hope that you will be able to get in touch with someone else from the Great State of Delaware (The FIRST State) so that we will be represented in this fantastic journey of yours. I hope to meet you someday and talk about your trip as it is something that I would love to do some day when I've got the time.

I am in Chevy Chase MD , sight see in Washington DC today, head to Annapolis area for tonight, then on to Delaware on Saturday , continuing on to York PA for Saturday night.

On to New Jersey for Sunday night and I think a crazy night in Manhattan on Monday. Off to upstate NY to visit family, then on to Vermont and New Hampshire, and Maine by the end of the week.

A short thanks to the many people who have made this trip possible

However, it is not over yet and anything is possible, stay tuned
