Why haven't you bought a C6 yet?

I own a C5 piece of junk....why make the same mistake twice?? It's a Chevrolet....the same company that makes Cavaliers.
My 97 Cavalier runs great and if it does breakdown or needs service I have my choice of several local dealers to take it too. Being a Chevrolet is one of the good things about a Corvette. Parts availability can be frustrating and very expensive with other makes of sports cars. Service options for many other sports cars can be very limited too.

Sorry to hear you have a bad 03 Z06. From all I have heard and read your Z06 is the exception not the rule. Hope you worked out all the bugs and have a carefree (repair free) 2005.

It seems like there are many C6s sitting unsold at Chevy Dealers even though some are offering fairly large discounts. Considering all the improvements and the massive media hype I would have thought people would be buying any C6 they could get their hands on.

Why haven't you C5 owners traded up to a C6 yet? Please don't just say you can't afford it. You found a way to afford your C5. Please think about the question. All facts, opinions and guesses are appreciated.

Thanks a lot,
Frank (bluecoupe)
I really don't want a car where it doesn't need a regular key to start or opens occupant entry doors via electric motors.

I like the C5. I am even thinking of going back to a C3- I guess that is the "wrong" direction but still.

IMHO, you are NEVER going in the wrong direction with a Corvette. I am close to getting a C6 but I am seriously considering "going backwards"!!!

Because I absolutely love what I already have. I can’t use any more speed than I already have and I personally like the looks of what I have a little more.

When I was in my late teens early twenties I used to always have to have the fastest cars. Now I have my 84 Vette and it goes plenty fast for me. What amazes me more than anything is how much I am in love with my Vette. I really wanted a shark but I love this C4 so much I cannot get rid of it.

Looks like Roadfrog became Roadkill as he hasn't posted why he is unhappy with his 03 Z06. ;LOL

When I first saw the C5, I thought that was about the most beautiful car I had ever seen. The C6 just doesn't make me feel the same. In fact, I keep trying to make myself like it.
In regard to those who do not buy cars for their looks, well, I do. There are other factors which contribute to my decision to buy a particular car but the bottom line is ALWAYS looks. :upthumbs

Boy I feel the same way about BOTH the C5 & 6! Im about to pull the trigger on a C6 and Im still unsure of that front end!!

1. My '04 Vert is wonderful and I only have 2700 miles on it.
2. I would never buy the first year run of a modle...way too many bugs to be ironed out
3. I can well affore a 2005 but I have issues with several features that I think will be changing for the 2006 modle, including the front tag placement among other screw ups.
4. Many people still like the C5 looks and feel so why get a C6?
5. My MSRP was $54,540.....I can get a New C6 for MSRP of $52,500 minus $3000 discount...maybe even more but I am happy with the C5 for the time being...that is untill the New ZO6 comes out..then I will get one of those ... and still keep my '04 Vert...when things calm down:L

The C-6 in a NUT SHELL

First of all let me say this about that :v , but the fuzzy feeling for me is just not there for the C-6. Just like someone else already said when I first set eyes on the C-5; I thought then and still do that it is the sharpest designed car I have ever seen. I can't honestly say that about the C-6. I think a lot of the traditional trade mark design items have gone away, first and foremost the hidden head lamps. I got to set in one and look at it up close about 3 weeks ago and it just didn't make it for me. I will keep my C-5 because I still think it is the sharpest :cool Vette every made and it's paid for! Maybe the C-6 is just looking too Europeon or something to me, maybe it will grow on me who knows.;shrug To each their own is what I always say, but it's not for me.

I looked at a few C6 photos I have and the side profile is not flattering. It looks like a Viper Coupe and a Toyota Supra. The side coves look like they were lifted off a Mustang. To me it just wasn't a great effort by the design team.

I saw one (Z06 04 CE) on the road today. I couldn't take my eyes off it. (Glad I wasn't driving at the time.) It has to be one of the coolest looking Vettes ever made. It is right up there with the Mako Sharks I and II (Manta Ray), both the C4 and C2 Grand Sports (in blue with the stripe), the Baldwin Motion Phase II GT C3 and the 78 Anniversary Pace Car. All have Killer Good looks.

When our local chevy dealer finally got a C6, I had to go and see what all the fuss was about. When I first looked at it I said "well- it's a nice looking car and all but it just does'nt scream corvette like my '03 Z06". Don't get me wrong...I do see all of the little "hints" to previous vettes in the design but I like the C5 better. My wife, who is really not that car savvy put it like this: "When I see other year model vettes on the street I say-Hey,that's a vette. This one looks like those cars the kids drive on the Fast and the Furious movies." (She's refering to the mitsubishi eclipses and Toyota celicas etc...) I'll finish on a good note by saying-I wish I could trade my interior design for the new look.:) ...Mack

it is a good thing that looks are not all that some people worry about or there would be a lot of ugly women not married.

I hear ya! I am planning on ordering a C6 because its the "latest" model and supposedly, the best(we hear this every model change)!! I miss the hideaway lamps but I do not miss the under-functioning headlamps. Up until the C6, the lighting in the front has been horrible. The fog lamps have been add-ons doing absolutely nothing! At least the C6 gives a better sense of the road ahead. GM syas that this is the reason it did away with the hideaways. BS! A little more time spent and we would have had both!!!!!!!
