EBvette, I'm the President of the York County Corvette Club that put on the N.C.C.C. show. Congratulations on your win. An absolutely gorgeous car you have. You guys (and ladies) make it tougher for us every year. The level and class of car just keeps getting better and better. Even with the...
I have a Richmond 6 spd in my '63. It has the 3.27 first gear. With 4.11 rears and stout 327 making the power, it stands up in a big darn hurry. The only mod or cutting with the richmond was the that the tranny tunnel needed to be notched. HOWEVER, when the console is installed, you cannot tell...
My life insurance guy did that to me once. He came over to make some changes to the policy while out working on my '63. This was a year or two ago when I was 33-34. He asked what year it was, so I told him. Then he asked if I bought it from new. :eyerole Didn't realize I looked at least 56...
Umm.. how can it be NCRS survivor quality when it had a frame off resto in the '90's?
Don't worry about the corvette records ever showing up. If you found them, you'd end up in a 55 gallon drum at the bottom of the ocean. Too many people have to much $$$ in selling fakes for the records to...
Hurst supposedly has shifters for the 6 spd. They were listed on their website. The Long shifter is much better than the original shifter that came with these cars, but for me, the jury is still out as to whether the Long is as good as Hurst. The broken-in Hurst I had previously was head and...
Sunoco a poor grade? Find another engine builder. My '63 will only run on Sunoco 94. Not 93, only 94 or higher. For the older cars, it seems like Sunoco is the cat's meow. Especially since Amoco is all but gone. Classic
Are '63 and '66 that much different? Didn't really have any problems getting the Richmond 6 spd in mine. The tunnel had to be "notched" slightly although the original console fits and the mod is not noticable. I have a 4.11 rear and a 3.27 1st gear. It definetly stand up when you get on it. Classic
I bought a used hood at Carlisle last weekend. I just about have all of the old flaking paint scraped off. Underneath the hood is a light tan/brown with areas that are a whitish color. There is a spot at the back edge where the hood is cracked clean through, maybe 2 inches long. My questions...
I'll get enough of a boost in performance by being able to got with a bigger air cleaner, but which would be better? Air coming in the front or the cowl induction setup like the L-88? Water coming in the front shouldn't be a problem obviously. I just figured the front opening would be different...
IH2LOSE, It, light colored and pretty rough. Probably about 3:30- 4 pm., heading back to the club tent to find someone to haul it back for me.
It was darn near unbearable this weekend with the heat and humidity. Had a few club members leave early on Sat. for not feeling well. All of that was...
I picked up a used hood at Carlisle today. It's a '64 hood with the '67 stinger on it. I thought I remembered that someone had made one into a "ram-air" setup where a flap would open in the front of the scoop at w.o.t. or "on demand". Anyone have the 411 on this? I have prep and paint questions...
I've been saying this for awhile. Eventually too much is going to be too much. The over-exuberance is going to kill the golden goose. I mean, really, a 572 cubic inch crate engine? Some kid is going to drop one of those in a clapped out nova and crash into a school bus full of orphans then it...
I read a detailed description of what would happen if pure oxygen were used. The short version is: spontaneous, multi directional self-disassembly. ;) Mixing pure oxygen, gas and spark is in essence, creating a really big bomb.
As to how cold is too cold? There is a point of diminishing...
If your mechanic can magnaflux your existing block, he could magnaflux a different 327 to make sure you get a good block. 327 blocks aren't just lying all over, but you can find them. Personally, I had my 327 rebuilt although it really didn't need it, instead of going with a crate motor. But a...
Hurst all the way. Had the oppurtunity to drive my '63 with hurst and my stepdads '66 with the original in the same day. Not even close. Sort of like the difference between Lee Meriwether(sp?) and Lee Marvin.:D Classic
Fire extinguishers and a dead man switch are musts for cars like ours. We have too much time, effort and $$$ in them not too. MY '63 almost burned when I wrecked. A cleaning towel made it's way up under the dash and was in contact with some wires that were broken. I noticed just a faint, wispy...
Without headers, it doesn't much matter. Whatever you do, you will not be getting the most from it. Headers are first and foremost.
I have the edelbrock air gap, cam and heads and have been impressed, to say the least. Classic
