Considering upgrade from 427/400 to either 502 or zz572 "recommendations"

I agree, I'm suprised nobody's mentioned the 540 earlier. Stock 427 9.8" deck height, heads, intake, fuel pump location, valve covers etc. Ultimate BBC sleeper. Even with the World or Dart block you can still get into it for less $ than most crates offering similar performance.

    C1/C4 Vette-rod

There's hope. Sounds like she's already aware of the (relatively) rougher ride of the C1 and merely wishes to add a few modern comfort conveniences. AC, pwr steering, pwr disc brakes, pwr locks, cruise, stereo etc. can all be added onto the C1 with little difficulty, while staying close to your...

another example of the NCRS/eBay effect on parts

A couple points as I see them; ..so when did the NCRS suddenly become the FBI ??? ..if so, exactly how does the NCRS determine which car is presently on the Feds stolen car list, attempting to conceal its identity and thus banned from judging -vs- a car where the painter tossed the tags, or a...

    "back in the day...."

I'll just copy/paste from a similar thread (over on CF) and add this; -all those people "back in the day" boring out shoebox chevy 265/283's to 4.00" were drag racers who built them to the ragged edge, ran the snot out of them on the tracks and retired them shortly afterward (theres a reason you...

I refuse to put it to rest yet!!

Put away ? heck no ..here in Florida, we're just coming into cruising season. Should last straight through until the rains and sweltering humidity arrive in May/June.

    Cragar SS Wheels

No personel experience, but It's my understanding the Cragers will not fit disc brake calipers without the spacers. This being the case, one would need to take the extra 1/2" offset of the spacers into consideration when ordering the 15x6 Cragers. The interference may be minimal, requiring very...

    C1 Power Steering

Cranes ram-assist system is currently the only aftermarket power steering kit I'm aware of. His kits use either a generator mounted pump or engine block mounted pump. For block mounted, seems I remember he was using a canton or sweet pump ..now appears he switched to a C5 aluminum pump. I'm...

Oh Man......What Are Thse Worth..!!! Very Rare

Late 60's racers used over the counter # 392 (67 L88) alum heads for track use, but most switched to the 074's by the mid 70's for their better flowing open chambers. Both styles are considered "old school" with sub-par technology by todays performance head standards and of interest only for...

If you added new heat/sound barrier....

Stay with 1/8" or thinner barrier and you can keep the Jute backing without fitment problems. I've used both the ceramic/foil weave heat barrier and the Koolmat (pressed Silicone/fiberglass) heat & sound barrier. The Koolmat seemed to deaden sound more (similar to Dynamat), but the ceramic/foil...

where are all the C1 parts?

Sadly, most C1's were wrecked, burned or modified to oblivion and their original parts scattered/burried deep beneath many landfills, junkyards and cornfields across America, making survivor parts that much more expensive.

    Comment's on C2 purchases

And so it continues... SB cars slowly, mysteriously, methodically morphing into BB cars, one by one, covertly, descreetly being slipped into society...absorbing into the general marketplace at inflated prices by unsuspecting first time buyers, replacement titles washing away vehicle histories, 2...

    Por 15

Yup, strip it...POR 15 needs to catalyze directly with the iron in the metal (or rust) to form its hard coating.

    Ordered KEISLER 5 SPEED

From TTC's news article www.ttcautomotive.com/English/news/20news.asp , it appears the improvements (T500/T600, 8 position shifter location, 2" offset shifters) are being made directly at TTC's mfg plant, not by any specific distributor (ie. Keisler) who is custom fabbing special shifters. This...

    Big Block C1's

The heft of an iron BB in a C1 will undoubtably make ride & handling a chore. A BB C1 rates high on the "wow" meter, but you don't need a BB to make a C1 walk away from the Honda's and 4.6's. SB stroker kits have been around long enough now that the prices have come down. If you have a 350 or...

How to find a c2 to restore

Full self-restoration huh ? Hope you have a fully outfitted garage with all the tools. In order of bang-for-your-buck; 1) Put wanted ads in several publications/websites (here, CF, regional NCRS sites, Trader etc); "sincere individual with cash seeks C2 project car for father/son project" etc...

    Street cars of the '60's

Can't say about 60's but the 1970-80's performance drought meant those same fabled 61-72 muscle cars were still alive and kicking WELL into the 80's with one advantage. By 1980-85 your average 15-20 year old kid buying his first $300 dream project could actually afford those same fabled cars...

Well lit parking space, nose first, wheels cocked w/parking brake, Police Athletic League t-shirt & Glock holster laying in pass. seat, NRA window sticker, fuel and ignition cutoffs, Alarm siren w/ batt backup buried out of reach. Bare minimum of blinking red light on/near dash/console (cell...
