    Idle sticks sometimes

Another thing to check is the mechanical advance in the distrubter.

    Hood Clearance

Let's see if I can put up a picture.

    Hood Clearance

My hood came from J.C. Whitney. It came complete with the air-box. You can order them either with or without for the same price. The rest of the air cleaner stuff came from Paragon. You'll have to mix and match spacers that will clear the linkage and fuel lines and also seal to the hood.

    Hood Clearance

My '79 has an L88 hood with the factory style air box. Under that hood I've got a small block with an RPM Air-Gap manifold, a 1 inch spacer, 750 Speed Demon, another 1 inch spacer and the factory big block air cleaner base.

WANTED : Seat belt extenders for '78

Check with your local Chevy dealer. They were required by the Feds to stock them for all models a few years ago. I do not know if that has changed but I'll bet big money that the manufacturer wouldn't have taken them back for credit.

    76 automatic shifter mounting questions

All of these answers pertain to my '79, your car may not be the same. The cable on my '79 goes out directly under the heater controls. The shifter bolts directly to the transmission tunnel. There is a lage hollowed out spot for the middle part of the shifter to fit in. Do not put any sort of...

    Line lock....or no line lock

USE A LINE LOCK! If you decide to not use a line lock and just overpower the rear brakes to do a burnout you will heat the brakes to the point of damaging the seals in a short period of time.

    front suspension

I can second Brian's view. I have had mine installed for almost 2 years now. The only way that I can think that there may be clearance problems with the spindle is if you are trying to install a rear spring in the front, or maybe if you have the outer adjustable bolts turned around so that the...

shelf life for a sitting carb

It didn't get put on the shelf because it was working good! There may be other hidden issues to contend with byond just dry seals. I always factor in doing a complete rebuild on any used carb that I buy as a minimum.

    quadrajet, vacume or mechanical

The mechanical secondary carb. will feel snappier. If both carbs. are tuned correctly there should be little to no performance gain to the mechanical carb. It is harder to get the tuning correct on a mechanical carb. As long as both are tuned properly the vacuum secendary carb. will give you...

    awesome "Merlin" auctioned @ B-J

Merlin was built for the owner, not for the benifit of an entire forum. When you've put all of your time and effort in to a project you DO NOT want to hear about how someone doesn't like it. Remember, if you can't say something nice, don't say anything. Merlin had a lot of very nice work done...

    Fresh Paint

My painter did not mention anything about not covering or washing the car. My wife bought me a car cover to keep the dust off. While reading the directions I read that I shouldn't use a cover for the first 3 months after painting. Thanks to our winter weather the paint will be over a month old...

    Fresh Paint

After seeing the "real flames" that people are putting on now I thought that I had to do that. After talking to a few painters and finding that 1. very few people are doing that style of art, and 2. those that are doing it are booked up for months if not years, I decided that I would go in...

    Fresh Paint

I no longer have to look at a gray primered hood!:D Ouch! Spanked by the big red X. That worked.

My '79 factory service manual shows exactly the same frame dimensions shown on your site for an '81.

Tall Valve Cover on a 78

It's been a while since I put mine on but I seem to recall that I had some clearance problem with the cruise control mount at the edge of the valve cover flange and the A/C bracket has to be extended with a bend in it.

Best Technique to Raise Door Height Adjustment?

All that you need to do is to remove the kick panel forward of the door to gain access to the bolts from inside the car. It makes it easier if you remove the drivers seat. When I did mine I just evened up the gap all the way around and tightened it down.

Pics of 2 tone or flamed C3's?

It's time for the paint. :_rock Please post any pics of 2 tone or flamed C3's so that I can see what others have done. Thank you in advance.

    A easier way?

Remove the 6 bolts in the fenderwells that attach the radiator surround. Tilt the radiator forward to gain access to the shroud. If this isn't enough clearance then you can remove the 2 bottom bolts to the surround and slide the whole radiator forward.
